FX Teleport (http://www.fxteleport.com) is a host-slave system that sends MIDI and audio over an Ethernet LAN, synchronizing VST instruments and effects running on each computer. I don’t think processing is dynamically allocated, but latencies are reportedly in the 6 to 9ms range, and unlike Steinberg’s VST System Link (http://tinyurl.com/75sh9), it doesn’t require an audio card on each computer. —David Battino

  I looked into that and read about some problems with consuming the CPU to such a degree that it negates anything gained from off-loading processing, plus it has an inhibiting user interface. I'm not speaking from experience, but the last thing I need is something experimental that might introduce new glitches and instability. If I hear about a new version that addresses the reported bugs, as well as positive user experiences then I'll give it a try.
