I "hear" you :) I'm going deaf myself, and it's scary. I suspect, though, that the podcast trend will remain merely a supplement to the written page.

Let's start a new trend! I invite you to subscribe to the first truly closed-captioned podcast. I produce "tecnocato" and it is now closed-captioned. I also post the transcripts (from the captions) in the podcast's website.
If the response is positive, I am seriously considering making an episode to show how to make your your own closed-captioned video podcast.
This is not officially supported by iTunes but it works... let's hope that they add more functionality in the upcoming upgrades and devices.
