Before I begin. I am using ruby 1.8.2 actionpack 1.8.1 actionwebservice 0.7.1 activerecord 1.10.1 activesupport 1.0.4 rails 0.12.1 rake 0.5.4 I create a controller and using webrick browse to it. I get a 404 not found. checking development.log I find that the controller is found but the action is missing... "Controller::UnknownAction (No action responded to index):" but then a page of filename 'process' and stuff, terminating in a line reporting 404 for "Rendering /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-1.8.1/lib.action_controller/templates/rescues/layout.rhtml (404 Page NotFound) Any ideas? its driving me NUTS... really wanna get into rails and keep tripping at the first hurdle.

At the beginning of part 2 of this tutorial (http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/03/03/rails.html) you'll find a link where you can download the source code for part 1. I'd suggest downloading this and comparing your controller with the one in the download.
