True, although I believe REXX was there first.<g> Having spent a fair amount of time in both, I do have to admit, for me, that REXX was a shorter learning curve to become 'functional'.

I haven't used Python, but have enjoyed REXX for many years and used it from quick three-liners to large GUI aplications.
I did look at the Python Web site a while back & read a tutorial, but decided that at a quick glance it didn't offer anything that I couldn't do in REXX.
I do recognise Python's current popularity, and hope that now that REXX can be considered a truly Open Source product it will also regain the popularity it clearly deserves.

There is plenty of scripting languages now. But IMO Ruby resembles REXX more than Python.
