I have done many years of large scale development and testing and we find loads in LAN and DB.


Maybe you are using EJB?
Else... app is never slow.


ANd we do generaly have many app servers, but ... something is wrong w/ your test I think.
Could you post more details?

    Yes... EJB. You should avoid them for larger apps.
    Try jPetStore.
