Unfortunately, that tutorial uses the old QTJ API and probably isn't a good place to learn QTJ from anymore. It's OK on Windows and with Java 1.3.1 on Mac OS X, but if run with Java 1.4 or higher on Mac OS X, it will throw lots of exceptions. See The Return of the Blue Q for the whole dang story.
