Just a warning to readers of this article, some of the functionality described in this article is not actually functionality vi but of one of the many vi clones (probably vim or elvis). The "Real" vi doesn't have :viusage or :help

That's not actually true.
nvi has both :viusage and :help, and is the vi included with the base system on FreeBSD (which this article is about).
