The application itself is tiny, but it'll consume about 500 MB of room on your hard drive Actually it fails to install if you have less than 1GB free and will only install on your system partition. So if you have multiple partitions, don't like installing apps to your system drive or have less than 1GB free on it then you are SOL. Rather stupid if you ask me.

  I've introduced Firefox + Google Deskbar + Google Desktop to a friend of mine, and after searching for 'mom' from the taskbar and finding emails from their mother, they were jumping up and down with happiness. Full points to Google

  Easily remedied with a registry change...
  
  If you want to change the location of the cache, you just need to change a registry key:
  
  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Google Desktop\data_dir
  
  It defaults to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Desktop Search
  
  I just exited the search with the tray icon, changed it to a folder on my D drive and moved the existing files over to the new location and then restarted it and it is now updating at the new location just dandy..
