  The basic principles of food photography apply equally to film usage as to digital. If you're doing something for a high school project and you don't have to please a client, I'd say go crazy and really unleash your creativity.
  
  For inspiration, go browse cook books and back issues of gourmet magazines at your local library. The Digital Photography Blog also has some
  other useful articles on the topic.
