| I've been playing around with AOP and annotations for some time but I was most interested to see your mention as to using annotations to effectively extend the Java language. This harks back a bit to the Meta-object protocol work originally put forward by Gregor Kiczales et al at Xerox over ten years ago. The original work, albeit largely academically, talked around how to extend a programming language using object-oriented approaches. Annotations are starting to look like good candidates for bringing these ideas into a more practical forum. Maybe the combination of AOP and annotations will achieve this. Thanks for the prompting some of the connections between the two technologies. | ||
