I don't know if this is addressed, but I have insurance for my laptop through safeware and I was leaving out of the country so I called them to make sure that this was still covered. They said that I need to have international coverage. But the coverage is only for "safe" countries. I am out of luck if where I am going to is listed in the US government travel advisories (which is where my work takes me). I was a bit surprised since safeware is pretty versatile. Any thoughts on this?

While it is difficult to speak on the relative advantages and qualities of a particular insurer without knowing the company well (I haven't dealt with Safeware myself), one must say that the best insurer is always the one that fits your needs.

If there is no way for you to get your laptop covered in your country of destination, you may want to look into other options for your insurance needs -- either by replacing your existing policy or purchasing an extension from another company.
