After reading the article on using ipod for voice recordings, i can see myself using it with one exception; transcription. i will be recording several hours of interview for my research, i will download it to a notebook, and store them in a cd rom, as my traveling files. when i am back from my field work i will need to transcribe the huge load of interviews.... is there a digital voice transcriber for mac?

  does anyone know if he did transcribe those?
  
  How is Apple's voice-to-text recognition accuracy rate? Par with Windows apps, or worse, or better, or isn't that a valid question?

  i've used IBM's ViaVoice. it's fair.
  the other one available is iListen.
  BUT they both require you to talk into your computer. i don't know of any way to record into your iPod or other recorder then download the file into your Mac and have the voice recognition software do its thing. have you heard of anything????

  There seems no transribing machine,i.e. physical device which would allow start stoppage with ipod.
  Not surprising.
  I will just keep plugging away with my mini cassette recorders and transcriber.
  If you are doing qualitatative research as I do, being "close" to the data is very important, both in transcribing and in analyzing the data, Nudst and other programs not withstanding.
  Too bad there isn't something that can allow control with the ipod.
