| Systems Biology is a discipline whose time has come. My generation started with organic chemistry, which spun off biochemistry. With the influence of genetics biochemistry became molecular biology, and with the influence of computers now has become systems biology. I have heard Dr. Hood speak on several occasions, and he comes across as a visionary. It is always exciting to see the future and Dr. Hood certainly has contributed to making this possible, first with his sequencers. All these advances are technology driven, and electronics in the form of computers have made this possible. I look forward to hearing about a joint venture between Bill Gates and Leroy Hood. They must know each other as both live in the Seattle area. | ||
