I have extended your application a bit to make it usable in Servlet API 2.2 and later. I've also fixed some small bugs (e.g. response writer encoding).

    Great! I'm glad to see the code is getting used. Please feel free to use the source-code from this article as you please. I appreciate any credit you give me as the original author, but the intention really is to give you something that will help with your web applications.

    It is also worth noting again that the code from this article is being actively maintained at http://www.jspbook.com. It is likely if someone posts a bug about the code here, you can probably already get a fixed version of the code from www.jspbook.com.
