Forget the memory stick. The iPod would be a great hard disk recorder of digital video simply by using the Firewire connector. You know, just plug your DV camcorder's Firewire output directly into the iPod. You'd get over two hours of digital video on a 40gig iPod. I'm not sure what is preventing this from being a reality. Any clues?

  actually, with my Sony DCRTRV 22, a one hour DV tape yields a 13gb uncompressed AVI file. so around 3 hours of digital video on a 40gb drive.

  Perhaps the slow speed of the hard drive? It's not exactly ATA100 is it?
