Hi !


That's interesting indeed ! I performed some tests and was always able to see the computer's S.M.A.R.T. status by using the Disk Utility , even without booting from the CD.


However, in order to see the status, you will have to click on the name of your hard drive ( 37.3 GB TOSHIBA, for example ) and not the name of the boot partition ( Dex's 7 Gig )...

    Only certain drive manufacturers (such as IBM/Toshiba) support SMART. New drives from other manufacturers will generally not include this feature.
