hi there, as far as i know, the mailserver on panther is not sendmail any more by default. apple has decided to switch to postfix, which is a little easier to configure. postfix does not loose rejected mails as sendmail does (sendmail panic) but as far as i am concerned: i will try to put sendmail on panther as soon as i will put it on my G4. it´s also possible to have sendmail and panther installed on the same system. just need some changes in the /etc/hotconfig and in the /System/Library/StartupItems/ an if you realy want to do this, it would be even possible to have them running at the same time using diffrent ports greetings from germany macmartin

  Ahhh, I did not realize that it wasn't included. Some time ago I thought of switching from Sendmail to postfix, but I was so deep into Sendmail it would have taken more time to reconfigure everything than starting from scratch, which would have caused some serious down time.
  
  Hey James, any thought of a new article for Panther and Postfix? After looking at some other sites, that seems to be the best way to go.

  I have just spent the best part of a week figuring out how to have sendmail use ports other 25 for relay. How do you do this on Postfix? I heard Postfix was very sendmail like - is my old sendmail.cf any use?
  
  Does Panther have a built in POP3 server?
