| I agree, and it goes even beyond experimentation. Another aspect of digital photography that accelerates learning is recording of "metadata." Every time you take a picture, the shutter speed, f-stop, white balance setting, flash mode, ISO, and more are captured and stored with the picture. Later, when viewing your images, this makes it much easier to analyze what went wrong... and right.
