| The author is actually right, simply because you can't connect to the Internet and to another computer through the same physical port, and the fact that a single Ethernet card may have more than 1 IP addresses is irrelevant here. But of course more than 1 computers can share the Internet connection through a hub, or your computer might have more than one NICs in which case one of them can connect to the Internet and another one to another computer. | ||

Only Airport has this limitation. You can create additional ethernet ports to share but not Airport.

No, I believe that jameshowison is actually the correct one. I am quite able to run (with one physical interface) my Built-in Ethernet connection back out to other computers through my Built-in Ethernet connection.
The author and yourself are both wrong. It is in fact possible. -- Not advisable, of course... and very risky in terms of network stability. But "possible" nonetheless.
