What about Bluetooth? Can you share an internet connection throught a bluetooth adapter? That would be handy for phones and handhelds . . .

  Yes, I'm pretty sure you can.
  
  You can certainly connect to the internet via a bluetooth phone (I know several people that do this regularly). You should also be able to apply exactly the technique applied above to work over bluetooth instead of firewire, thereby connecting two computers by bluetooth.
