The key problem with this article is that now this information is getting out there. Java developers DO NOT want to see there billing rates drop which is what happens when big businesses learn that there is a language out there that is a perfect for developing a majority of there web based applications at a lower cost to them and a quicker time to market. I am a PHP coder at heart...have been for a long time. I work for a very large financial firm that is strictly a java shop. I look at the applications that are being built and truly believe that they could be done in 1/2 the time using PHP. If you java guys are really worried that PHP will be as hard to learn as Java don't worry. It's much easier. Pick up a php book and take a look! You'll be surprised at how much more you can do with much less code!

    And I would recommend that that book should be 'PHP and MySQL Web Development' by Luke Welling and Laura Thomson. I have never read a programming book so easy to read.

      Try the one by Larry Ullman. I have both and his is really easy and straightforward.
