Just use ColdFusion MX. All the benefits of a superior server side scripting language that runs as pure Java at runtime. Scales up and out extremely easily too.

    Too bad previous ColdFusion code doesn't migrate 100% of the time and that there have been too many installation and database connectivity problems. I've wasted too much time on trying to get it properly configured rather than being productive.

    Last I checked ColdFusion was not an open platform (correct me if I'm wrong). I think that the pattern here is that people want an open system for development. This doesn't make CF bad technology. It will just never gain a significant market share since it is not open. I believe CF is still pretty expensive too. Was too costly for me at least last time I checked.
