What if Apple added the ability to control the iSight when it is hooked to an iPod thru firewire? You would have a cheap digital camcorder. You can store about 60 minutes of DV footage on 13GB so the new 40GB iPod could record about 3 hours of footage, far surpassing miniDV's 60 minutes.

There is a product made by Archos that does that no problem , I will find you the version and the plugin ,, sleepy now :)

that is a *SWEET* idea! i was just thinking about how the paris expo footage helmet idea would been much easier to capture without the bulk of a laptop... man, i hope apple does that.

now thats a good ass idea
once you transfer the dv stream to the mac you could save a step in transfering the video from the camera
what you need is a script that would get the video out and automatically sense the camera stops and put it in a folder and you could have sorenson squeeze (with watch folder) squeeze it.
maybe belkin can come up with something like this seems pretty simple, ipod to firewire adapter

I know we're sort of horsing around here, which I like, but heck, right now the smallest device we have to plug the iSight into is a 12" AiBook or iBook. Smaller would be better. If someone comes up with something, please post here! -
