| I read the interview, and agree with much of the "philosophy", despite the psychobabble, and agree that intro programming texts need improvement, but I found the chapter on objects to be quite childish, chatty and condescending. The fact is, it takes intelligence, an ability to abstract, a sort of mechanical sensibility, and a certain amount of intellectual maturity to learn to program -- at all. This seems like a "dummies" or "complete idiot" book in disguise. If I ever write another intro text, it will be entitled, "Java Programming for the Intelligent Beginner", so that prospective readers will know the truth "up front"--that is, if my goal is to teach the teachable, rather than to sell books! | ||
