hey, POI is pretty good, but I think if you want a really good Java Excel tool with commercial support, F1 is way too limited and expensive.
THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS!
We use and recommend the Java Excel API ExtenXLS, which you can download here from Extentech's web site at:
http://www.extentech.com/estore/product_detail.jsp?product_group_id=1
This tool is so slick and works so well, we've never even needed support!

We tried ExtenXLS and it just didn't scale well. It often corrupted files and just didn't do what we needed. POI worked great for us.

I am a customer of http://www.superlinksoftware.com/. Although as stated, their website sucks, their support is excellent. Once I had a rather serious and complex problem and the author of this article had an answer and a patch within a couple hours. -

This is vamsi. I've a problem accessing excel spread-sheets in linux. How can I access .xls files in linux? Is there any sol. to create DSN in linux? Plz reply ASAP.
