You meant in RPGII and RPGIII. In the current version of RPGIV you can have much longer variable names,you certainly don't need CL 'to chain programs together.' The best thing about RPG is that it runs on an iSeries with OS/400- it benefits from a rich environment. I don't think there are many banks that run on PERL, or C, C++ or any of the others mentioned. We've got Java 1.4 running on our iSeries with OS/400 here...we're an insurance company.
