Hello Dick, et. al.,

I have CFMXJ2EE running on Tomcat. I've also successfully installed MySQL using the latest package install (<http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/mysql/>).

I believe that what I have to do next is:

1. Install the JDBC connect (from http://www.mysql.com/downloads/api-jdbc-stable.html).
- INSTRUCTIONS are not very clear; do I merely copy the .jar file over into {JAVA_HOME}/ext/lib ?

2. Improvise from this lesson here (#4) on how to get Vienna to recognize the MySQL driver.

Am I on the right track here? Am I missing anything?
Also, just for grins, is there a means to test my installation of MySQL? Everything seems right (from the O'Reilly article I used to install it).

THANKS!

I haven't installed MySQL using Marc's package for a while. It should work. Marc's site does not include the latest MySQL package. I understand that similar Mac OS X packages will be available from the official MySQL site, in the near future.

With that in mind, you should be able to get the package from Marc's site to work with CFMX & ViennaSQL.

To use the jar file you mentioned, you need to install it where it can be found by ViennaSQL, CFMX, or any other Java program -- copy the JDBC driver jar file to:

    /Library/Java/Extensions/

Then, setup the appropriate connection for ViennaSQL as in Part 4 of this series.

As far as testing the MySQL install, I never got the Test procedures to work (though I did not spend much time trying).
