The example application shows bad use of both HTML and JSP. See below.


HTML: No DOCTYPE spec, use of deprecated tags and attributes (<center>, <bgcolor>, etc.).


JSP: Use of scriplets (Java code in the .jsp file). In Home.Jsp, for example, all the Java code can be easily replaced by JSTL tags (JSTL = JSP Standard Tag Library).

    Sorry about the depricated tags and attributes. DOCTYPE was omitted to keep things clean, and this is [as you say] wrong.

    As for your comments on JSTL, well the article was not about JSTL. I was worried about the article length, and trying to keep the number of different technologies used to a minimum,.

    My main purpose was to get over the idea of using Ant to set up a DataSource.
