Rating: I used the first edition of this book like a bible, so when the opportunity came along, through the Atlanta Asterisk Users Group (atlaug.com) to review the second edition, I jumped at the chance. This is an excellent resource for asterisk beginners and experts. This book includes an introduction, including a cookbook approach to getting asterisk up and running, and lots of useful background information, including an accessible descriptions of a lot of telephony terms. The appendices contain pretty much of a complete reference of all the Asterisk 1.4 applications, configuration files, dialplan functions, etc. I would recommend this book for asterisk newbies and professionals.
