If you are thinking about buying this book, consider first that there are two ways to set-up Google Analytics:
- You can copy the tracking code and paste it into your webpage.
- Or you can harness the power of Google Analytics by using Justin’s book as your guide.
To truly understand your web based customer, you need to use the full functionality of Google Analytics. But what does that mean? What do you need to do? What are all of the possibilities? Really - what can you learn aside from the number of visits and views? This book will teach you what you can find out even if you don’t (currently) know that you want to it find out.
But what if you have pasted the tracking code into you site, you are currently gathering tons of data and you do know what your want to know about your customer?
If this is you, I’d imagine that you’ve consulted GA’s Help Center at some point. Have you ever felt more confused after reading one of the explanations? Yes? Well, it is time to come out of the dark. Without using fancy words or confusing analogies this book will teach you how to properly set up filters, goals, sites with multiple domains, e-commerce tracking and campaign tracking. You’ll learn which functions are affected by which variables. And, for only $10, you’ll have a tool that can guide your web site strategy instead of a database of hits, visits and views.
Personally, I keep it on my desktop and reference it every day. I recommend that you do the same.
