A wide ranging coverage of the game programming reality, with example code in the text. The level of this code is equivelant to the game programming gems series genrally being more practical and less academic. The FLAW and its a big one is the lack of code, no CD and the auther explaines at lenght that to give the best upto date working code only a well maintained web site will do. He also expresses exasperation at poor code in other titles. Well he beats that, what about no code at all. web site inaccessable. no links and no replies from seller auther or publisher. If you want a great book with NO CODE and a lot of typing then this is for you. I myself have found the complete lack of code too annoying. If you bought the book for typing practice then all is well. I rate this a 5* if the code was avalible and 0* as it stands. My advice for what its worth is dont buy it untill you check out the web site and the code promised in the book is avalible. |
