This is an outstanding book, I have purchased extra copies for some friends. Although Java will always have a place in the computing world and I personally like it, it has proven to be overly complex for many applications and difficult for new programmers to get up to speed. Having written and taught Java extensively, Bruce Tate's Java credentials are impeccable. His writing is clear, concise, well organized and very conversational. The book is brief and to the point, only 160 pages. Interviews with other experts are particularly instructive. Although his primary target audience is managers, the book is highly informative for techies like myself. My personal initial reviews of the Ruby on Rails technology indicate that the hype is justified. This book is highly recommended for anyone and everyone who wants to keep up to date with significant new directions in the data processing universe.
