A retired couple was visiting our house and the man asked me about whether, how often, and how to clean their PC. In the middle of my somewhat stumbling but I think reasonable response, a package was delivered to the door - my copy of Repairing & Upgrading Your PC had arrived. I opened it, turned to the table of contents, then to system cleaning, and handed the book to our friend. He read the short section on system cleaning, closed the book and said, approximately, “I’d better not get into this any further right now” (being polite company). Then, “I can understand this, is this book available? Where can I get a copy?” That is what I mean when I say the Thompson’s write well. The information is as complete as one can expect in this rapidly changing world, but you don’t need to be some sort of techno nerd to understand what they present. If you are going to delve into your own computer maintenance or add/replace components then this is a darn good place to start, and with this book in hand there is no reason why you should not do so. It will help you make better decisions about what, when, how, and even whether you should bother to upgrade, and probably save you money besides. |
