O'really it's usually pretty good in balancing the material presented in their books (theory/practice), but I was a bit dissapointed on Jakarta Struts (my expectetions were pretty high).

I find this is an excellent book to learn the guts of Struts, how it functions and why it does things a certain way... this would be very useful if you were to build Struts again.

However, from a practical point of view, is not a book you can go to for consultation on "how to use" Struts.

Specifically, I find it lacks a lot of information (and examples) on the Struts custom tag libraries. You cannot figure out how certain tags work, (most of them are not even discussed) It also left completly out the topic of indexed properties in ActionForms.

If you are (or will be) heavily involved in Java web programming using Struts, I recommend you borrow this book from somebody for a couple of days (quick browse), and then rely on the struts website for supporting information.
