Rating: The chapter on GUI Building with the NetBeans GUI Editor was, if anything, more sketchy than the NetBeans online help on that topic. Essential techniques like attaching a JTable to a JScrollPane to create a multi-columned scroll box are not covered at all. The uses and unusual behaviors of the Form Editor, the various Model Editors, and the many property lists are hardly touched on. If you already know Swing well at the Java level, you could back into the use of the NetBeans GUI Editor by examining the generated Java Swing source code, but then you wouldn't need this book. The rest of us are left out in the cold.
