This book is a very good overview of the Microsoft .NET framework, especially for a developer coming at it without much Microsoft experience. I have done most of my work in a UNIX/C++/Java/Web environment, but like to keep up with what Microsoft is up to, so this book was just what I needed. It is concise but thorough and keeps away from the hype for the most part.

On the down-side, the book has many grammatical errors that make me feel that it was rushed to production. Additionally, I found it a little confusing at times, since the writing doesn't do a particularly great job of tying all the pieces of the framework together, and the topics don't always flow together well.

This wouldn't be my first choice to really learn how to develop with .NET, but it's a very good overview if you just want the fundamentals and a good idea of how .NET fits into the industry-wide picture.
