The only value this book has lies in its physical properties (can be used as paperweight, insect population control tool, monitor height adjuster, and such). The content is a direct-path load of Oracle online documentation.
One would suppose that "Oracle SQL" would provide coverage of proprietary Oracle SQL extensions (ROLLUP, CUBE, etc); no such luck. Examples are kindly provided for AVG and SUM, however. Gee thanks...
The authors/editor have telepathically evaluated requirements of all Oracle DBAs, and decided that we don't want information on Object Option as it "adds a significant amount of syntax"; this is therefore provided as a 23-page PDF file on the O'Reilly site. A significant pain in the arse.
If you're considering spending $40 on this book, I suggest you invest $37 in a backup copy of "Oracle Database Administration", and put $3 in an IRA, instead.
