This is kind of fun, straight from the halls of RailsConf Europe!

How can you express Rails, Berlin and the people @ railsconf europe with just one word for each of these topics ? We’ve challenged the RailsConf Europe 2007 attendees and we’ve condensated their answers in this 5 minutes video.

This blogger had his work featured at MoMA, but was inspired by RailsConf Europe…

Anyway, at RailsConf Europe a few weeks ago, Dave Thomas’ keynote speech emphasized the role of software designers as artists. He said, “treat your projects as though they are artworks, and sign your name to them.” Or pretty close to it. I think this is incredibly valuable advice for software designers today.

A speaker from RailsConf Europe posted this after the show:

I had the pleasure of presenting to the Rails conf audience this morning about and Building RIA’s with Flex . I wasn’t sure what to expect going in, I was kinda worried it would just be me and 3 guys who were in there to sit and check email :)

We always enjoy seeing Ola at conferences, this is a good review of what happened at RailsConf Europe:

Overall I had a very good time at RailsConf this year. It’s a worlds difference from RailsConf last year in London, which I felt was a real waste. This year the energy was high, much interesting things going on and lots of nice and smart people.

Day three of RailsConf Europe is reviewed:

We were also informed that the RailsConf Europe 2008 will be in Berlin as well. All I can say is I expect to be there next year (and maybe Portland, too), and that I’ll be writing a post recapping my impressions on this year’s RailsConf Europe, which has been very interesting, and of course, a lot of fun.

Another great review for RailsConf Europe:

It’s always a difficult undertaking who you’re trying to attract with such a specialized conference like RailsConf, being about a specific framework in a specific area of development (The Web). Go too technical and lose the beginners. Stay too broad or basic and lose those who have been following for years. With RailsConf Europe 2007, I think the balance was basically pretty much spot on.

This is the kind of feedback the RailsConf Europe conference team loves to get:

That was RailsConf Europe 2007. It was way to soon over, but never the less it was a great experience. For Andi and me this was the first time we attended any conference and our expectations got surpassed. The atmosphere at the conference was just great, so next year we will be back for sure.

Nick was a speaker at RailsConf Europe but also authored the following blog about DHH:

Rails is no longer the James Dean character, looking outward, trying to convince you of something. It’s no longer about a rebellion or a revolution. Instead, Rails is settling in as a passionate, inward-looking craftsperson.

Here is a review of DHH’s keynote at RailsConf Europe:

This year, DHH noted that he up until now had started all his previous keynotes about Rails celebrating how “freakin’ fantastic we are”. For this keynote, he thought - with Rails being well within in its third year in existence - that it was time to perhaps be happy with what we have.

Dr. Roy T. Fielding of Day Software keynoted here at RailsConf Europe. I just had breakfast with him here in Berlin and he told me he’s delighted to be attending a “sold-out” conference. I suspect having this ground breaking software engineer in our midst had something to do with the conference attendance! Here is the release issued from his firm:

Day Software (SWX: DAYN, OTCQX: DYIHY), a leading provider of global content management and infrastructure software, today announced its chief scientist, Dr. Roy T. Fielding, will be featured as a keynote speaker at RailsConf Europe on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the Maritim pro Arte Hotel in Berlin, Germany.
