Advertised as 'perfect for first-time JavaScript coders', this book is just that - an ideal starting point for those new to the language.

It's packed with examples, and written in a great, friendly style, taking you from the initial concepts, best style for coding, moving onto event handlers, document access and then covering topics such as animation and form handling, finishing off with a section on Ajax, and the future of JavaScript.

I've read a selection of other books on other programming languages, but found the style of this one to be the best I've come across. The examples are clear, and well explained, and the authors seem to really enjoy their topic.

"If you want to learn JavaScript and learn how to code it the right way, you will find the material in this book meets your exact requirements. The content in this book is highly relevant not only to JavaScript but to the entire evolution the web has undergone and is still undergoing."
    -- Schalk Neethling, JavaLobby

"I often lament that while there are so many books that teach specific programming languages, there are too few books that teach basic programming along the way. This book is an exception. Pick up a copy of the Yank and Adams book if you want to learn basic JavaScript (and beyond)..."
    -- James Pyles, Technical Writer

"Simply Javascript is a book by SitePoint, and it gives plenty of examples and real-world tutorials on how to use javascript to solve problems that plague modern web layouts."
    -- Glen Stansberry, NETTUTS
