My chapter numbers do not update in the captions

Hi Deke, Thanks for such a very useful post, Could you please help me a bit futher in this? 1. By using numbering and section options I manually update the chapter number at every page where a new chapter begins - Is this the right way of doing it? 2. I want them to look like with 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 for chapter one and 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 for chap 2 and so on. Right now they continue across the document such that my second chapter begins with 2.4 instead of 2.1 Appreciate your help on this! Thanks, Vrinda
