For the moment, it's very important for IE and MS Office to run on Mac OSX. I'd guess that most IT groups wouldn't take OSX seriously if Office were not available. I think the most valuable MS product for OSX is the RDC client, however. That allows Mac users to access any MS application via a thin, free client (of course, it does require Win2k Server & client licenses).


In the long run, I'd bet that the reliance on MS products for the Mac will diminish. There are constant rumblings of a Star Office port to the Mac, and speculation that Apple will replace IE as the default browser in OSX with some other product (OmniWeb or Chimera, for example). Assuming that these products are quality (and that Star Office can read/write MS Office documents), I suspect that many Mac users will be happy to make the switch from IE and Office (myself included).
