You can use the Grab utility to grab a still frame from a DVD! While playing a DVD video using DVD Player, pause to get a still frame. You can scroll forward & back to get exactly the frame you want to use. Make the view window as large as possible without going full screen, so you will still have access to the Dock & Menu bars. Once video is paused, use Controls>Use Current Frame as Jacket Picture, then stop the video (square button on video control panel). Wait. Window will go to black and then your selected Jacket Picture will come up. Start "Grab" utility and use Capture>Selection. Drag rectangle around area you want, and Grab will turn it into a tiff image. Save as many images as you want. I often make a collage of two or more for a DVD label in Photoshop.
