Thanks for the review of the GT-R1. I am a classical guitarist and I am wondering what your opinion is about recording a classical guitar with this unit. I listened to your acoustic guitar recording,(which I was impressed with), but I am unsure if it was recorded using a pickup or purely acoustically into the units microphones. I would be recording purely acoustically. I was considering the Tascam DP-004 because of the flexibility of using a good mic.(s) but the GT-R1 seems to offer a lot of additional and desirable features.

Thanks for writing. I recorded the acoustic guitar WAV files using only the mics. I do this for every recorder I review so that you can compare the "sound" of each one.

The GT-R1 overdub feature works with the built in mics or the 1/4" input, so you would be able to build your own guitar quartettes.

Incidentally, as with most flash recorders, you may also use external microphones.
