Subject:   How did you test the MT 2's line in? M-Audio admits this doesn't work

In your review of the MicroTrack II, you said one of the features you really liked about it is the line in capability. I'm wondering how you tested this? I purchased a MT II partially because of this feature, only to find that M-Audio admits there's a hardware issue that causes noise when using unbalance sources on the TRS inputs. They recommend using a DI box on the 1/4 inch interfaces or using the (inferior) 1/8 inch mic. input with a pad for line in. Though the sound quality of the MT II with external mics is great (if I don't touch the TRS plugs while recording for fear of injecting horrific static) the line level "bug" is quite disappointing.

There's a good chance I'll return my MT II if the new Zoom H4n pans out.

    Thanks for pointing this out.

I did not test the Microtrack II with an unbalanced line source--I prefer to use balanced lines when faced with a TRS input --- and so was unaware of the issue.
