How to query a non AD Ldap

Hi, this article is very helpful. I'm trying to query a non AD Ldap using the user account and password in order to authenticate him/her. I notice that the user account does not have browse privilege. This limitation do not allow me to invoke the FindOne method. How I can accomplish this task without the browsing capability in the user account? I will apreciate any suggestion. Regards,
