I had one of these until I lost it recently.
Recording at the high quality setting sucked the life out of the battery; no question about that. So for me to survive college (long lectures) I keep the quality low and just turn up the volume.
The cable that keep it powered while recording never seemed to work for me. Perhaps my purchased replacement will work differently.
