Automating using a psd template

Hi, I'm struggling to get Photoshop to Open a psd file insert 1 picture into various layers, at different sizes and positions of that file, flatten the file and then do the same action with another picture into the same psd. I can get photoshop to do it using Automate, Batch but everytime it completes the action filling 1 psd and saving it as a jpg, I then have to open the psd file for the batch to continue processing my folder. Question: How do I get the action/batch to Open my 1 psd template, then open the file from the folder of images I'm processing, complete my actions and then do the same thing with my template and the next image in my folder of images? Please help??
