I check my tri-pod in but pack it in a small bag and have a Velcro strap that I have riveted to the tri-pod to keep the legs from opening.


The ball head I put into my luggage so as to minimize the potential for damage to it.


I also travel with a carbon fiber and ball head. Good way to keep the weight down.
