I am having exactly the same problem. Where you ever able to resolve the issue? If so, how?

This appears to be a firewall issue. If you have your firewall enabled, disable it and try to connect. I'm having the same problem, but I can't figure out what firewall setting is giving the error message

Error connecting

a friend at work just set up linux to talk to our windows pptp server, and the magic thing was apparently the option "refuse-eap". however, the mac ppp plugin does not apparently accept this as an option.
when i tcpdump the config-req packets coming from our server i see EAP in there. and i guess the osX pppd does not know what to do with that option, so it just times out.
so we may be stuck. i didnt see pppd in fink, but that does not mean that the linux pppd could not be ported to osX.

That's it, then I get the Unexpectedly Terminated dialog in Internet Connect. Anyone know what "Fatal signal 10" is?
