If computer science courses consisted of what you specified they would be a joke. What you described is a diploma (at best) in IT. This is not what computer science is about. The fact is computer science is an academic degree (not a technical one).
You seem to think that a degree should train you in the technical skills necessary to enter the job market. The point of university degree is to teach you to think analytically, critically and to be able to understand complex ideas. A good computer science degree does all of this. For an intelligent graduate, all the topics you mentioned could be picked up in a week.
Why do you assume computer science is a technical degree that leads into programming? I am a computer science student and I am continuing into a career in investment banking. My course has taught me to think logically, analytically and creatively. Your course would do none of these things and would leave graduates with one option and no prospects.
As a director you should take a leaf from investment banks books. They hire intelligent people from a diverse background and the results of their success are evident. If you hired graduates from your ‘computer science’ course you would be stuck with a bunch of technical minded monkeys, you might as well outsource.
If people do computer science degrees with the intention of becoming a programming monkey then they have chosen the wrong degree and often hate it.
You are mistaken about computer science and wrong to claim to know what 'it should be about'.
